Saints will protect me

Many visitors in Sicily are negatively surprised of the terrible traffic and that people drive like they have nine lives, with no seat belt, kids jumping around in the car, newborns sitting in the mothers lap instead of in a car seat and much more… And yes it is true that the traffic here is horrible. I drive to Taormina couple of times a week and last time I saw four single accidents and five fires on the road from Taormina to Catania, approximately 50 km drive.
Sicilians cars are filled with pictures of saints and crosses because they believe that these items will protect them instead of relying on science and use the seat belt. You see these items hanging from the back mirror, attached to the car or truck or some place inside the car. And when someone dies in an accident they say It was his/hers time to go.

Du ser dessa objekt h?ngande fr?n backspegeln, fastklistrade i bilen eller lastbilen, eller n?gon annan plats i bilen. Och n?r n?gon d?r i en olycka de s?ger att det var hans / hennes tid att g?.
