If you think it always happens to you – Read this!

It all starts tuesday when the flight from Catania to Barcelona was late and I was sure to miss my connection flight to Bruxelles. But I arrived to the terminal 20 min before departure to Bruxelles and ran from one gate to another. 8 min before departure I was sitting on the plane from Barcelona to Bruxelles. Of course my bag was left in Barcelona. I arrived to Bruxelles and made a PIR report. Problem was that my winter clothes were in my missing luggage so I had only a scarf and a sweater, but in my hand luggage extra change until the bag comes. The Lost & Found never works well in any airport and it was hard to get updated of the situation and I really needed the bag because Thursday I had to leave to London at 6 am. After many pushing mails my bag finally arrived Wednesday at 7:30 pm. My plans for wednesday were cancelled as they said a totally different time for the arrival for the bag. Thursday early morning we leave the apartment for London in good time to take the speed train to London.

We take the tram and it is the first time in eight years in my friends life the tram drives the wrong way. And now we start to be stressed because if we do not check in 30 minutes before departure, we loose our tickets and new last minute tickets for the train costs approximately 300 euro each. We jump out of the tram and try to find a new. We call a taxi but it is 25 minute waiting time (in Bruxelles!!!). Finally we are on the tram, but during the trip already late for check in, but we decided to run there anyway to see what happens. We stand in line nine minutes before departure and get checked in anyway. When we passed we saw that luckily we were in the business line and the girl did not check our type of ticket so we got on the train three minutes before departure. And I even had the time to by breakfast for us to eat on the train! It took about 30 minutes before we started to laugh and be able to talk again.

Friday I have a visit booked at a customers warehouse west of London and have to take a train there. We have the hotel in the Belgravia area and had to be at Paddington station at 09:20. So I leave the hotel two hours before departure time because if something would happen, I have good time to arrive to the trainstation in some other way. I am on the metro safe a sound, but suddenly the metro stops at a station and I did not hear exactly why. But I knew something was wrong so I decided to jump out and take a taxi. To get a taxi on the streets of London is not easy. I run on the street to find a taxi point and finally find a hotel and grab a taxi there. I communicate to the driver that I have to be at Paddington station in 40 minutes. He says I am out of my mind because they do road work in the whole Paddington area and the traffic is a mess. But if I want to chance it, he will do his best. He askes me if he shall take the narrow road or the main road, because if we are lucky the narrow road moves and is faster. But if we get stuck, then it is over. I tell him to take the narrow road. Narrow road went well and arrived to the station 12 minutes before departure time. When I was about to pay, his card machine did not work and I did not have pounds on me, just euros. So he accepted to take euros and he got my phone number if it shows to be less than the fare, he just calls me and we meet so I can pay the rest. But he got three pounds more. I run to the station and I am there eight minutes before departure. But I can not find the train! I go to the ticket office and they say that the train is cancelled and I have to take the next one. Then I start to laugh and the cashier looked eased because I was not angry as the other passangers. She asked me why and I told her shortly about all the happenings with my trip. I took the next train and postponed the meeting with the client. After this the rest of seven week trip went very well!

Story of my life!

?tta ?r i min v?ns liv sp?rvagnen k?r fel.

Typiskt mitt liv!

Kiruna – my home city that will be moved

It is one of the biggest operations in Swedish industrial history when the most northern city in Sweden will be moved because of the ore industry. The ore that comes from Kiruna is one of the strongest in the world and most of it gets exported to China. You see the mine on the left side with the big blue sign and on the right side the city center with the red old church, municipality and shops. The area inside the red tape is in the risk zone and will be moved first more below as you can see in the second picture.

Second photo: In the area where you see two blue signs on the right will be the new place for a new town municipality. The buildings body will be completely new, but the clock tower will remain and but on the new buildning. The church will also be moved as saved as it is. Contructions of new buildnings and neighborhoods has already started. New municipality will have a round form.

On the third photo you can see the size of the mine above and how large the ore body is under the earth. If you visit Kiruna do not miss the daily guided half day tour to the mine. It is an amazing experience.

The move of my lovely home town will take approximately 55 years. Everything to get the good iron under the city!

Scandinavia Tour: Lapland – my home and heart

Kiruna, Lapland (Sweden) is where I am born. I left Lapland when I was 15 years old to study fashion. Lapland has many natural ecosystems where the nature and animals live together. You can still drink the water in many lakes and rivers. During our stay we went with dog sled and visited the Icehotel in Jukkasj?rvi. It was very exotic for hubby to see a totally different world. Right now the area is in a period kalled Kaamos which means that the sun does not rise for approximately one month. We were there just days before and enjoyed some sun for 2,5 hours.

The Icehotel was in construction. They fly in different artists from all over the world and they make their ice rooms according to their ideas. The suite in the Icehotel costs this year 1,300 euro/night and champagne is served in ice glasses. The waiting list is two years for the room.

I miss Lapland, it is such a unique place.

Ristorante Rubiano in Verona

Just go in, sit and let the kitchen chose your food. Amazing!
Piazzetta Scalette Rubiani 3
just by the theatre in Verona city center

Recommendation: Trattoria al Gran Sasso, Rome

?Outside Sicily I take the chance to eat lasagna as it’s not a common dish on the sicilian menu
And it’s my favorite pasta dish
Service is very good and the place is small and cosy
Food and wine is great!

So what is happening in Sicily

Well, the last months has happened alot. Been struggling with my residence and finally sorted it out. In Catania the women in the comune didn’t understand that I have an income, so I had to call some muscles to help out and now all ok.

Been to Rome to renew my passport, costs about 200 euro to get a swedish passport by the embassy plus travel costs, but now one worry is of my mind. The passport is my most important document and it has to work. A bank lady here broke it…

The airport in Catania has been closed and still is even if the work to improve the pist was supposed to finish two days ago. So all flights goes by Sigonella, the military airport just a stone-throw-away from Catania. This is quite a good example how Sicily works; the media wrote to open Comiso airport, a brand new airport built but not in use as a minister in Rome refuses to sign the last ok. But, population knew that Sigonella is to be the support airport while Catania is closed and that’s the way it went. So read media and?expect the opposite.

So some weeks after Sigonella was in use, the minister signed a ok for Comiso airport to open in 150 days, so let’s see…

The ex-mayor of Ragusa, Nello di Pasquale, refuse to?be called by?his new?title “Onorevole” as he is in the sicilian government now and wrote on his official Facebook page that he is Nello per tutti! = Nello for everybody!

Sicily has a new president Rosario Crocetta. He seems to have more balls than Lombardo as Rosario in one of his first debates on RAI made it clear that companies with registered office in Milano, but pollution Sicily with their production located here, shall pay taxes in Sicily and not in Milano!

Lombardo, Sicily’s ex-president, showed up some time ago with a blue eye saying that he fell in his country house, but actually he got beaten up by angry catanesi not far from where I live today.

WindJet seems to sell tickets even if it is officially down. Maybe they got economical back up. Gotta check it up!

Some pics from a rainy Rome

Bra?kvalitet. B?sta s?ttet att testa om en ananas ?r mogen ?r att dra bort ett l?v. Om det lossnar l?tt, ?r det bra att ?ta.
Eng: Nice quality. Best way to test if a pineapple is ripe is by pulling off a leaf. If it comes off easily, it is good to eat.

Eng: These fruits I would never eat. The color is not right which means the fruit is raw or manipulated and is bad for your health.
