Paragliding over Castelmola, Taormina & Letojanni

I did this summer 2019 and as I do not do the same adventure twice I decided to make this video because this is a MUST DO if you visit this area. No words can describe this!!

We started at Mount Veneretta at 900 m.a.s.l. flying over Castelmola, Taormina and landed in Letojanni. Stunning view all the way to Etna, southern and northern bays and all the way down. As they film the whole flight experience and a photo is taken every 20 seconds, I recommend to buy that extra service to enjoy the experience to its fullest.

The amazing view above Castelmola at 900 m.a.s.l. Next blog post will tell what we were about to do here.

Skiing on Etna – with Eruption!

Skiing on Etna is something out of this world! And especially when the volcano in erupting the same time. This day was just perfect! New fresh snow that didn’t become icy yet and no wind at all. So warm I had to take my gloves off and was glad I just put jeans on. On one side you have the volcano, and on the other side a spectacular view to Taormina, Giardini-Naxos and with a clear day like this, all the way to Calabria.

Sadly you can not program to ski on Etna as the window of days is very narrow. We had just one day in one week of time to go because as soon as the Sicilian hot sun appears the snow melts rapidly and Etna is often very windy. You can do this if you are lucky to be in Sicily this time and match a day similar to this.

The north side has snow some days longer than the south side. There are two bars, some rental offices for ski equipment ecc. Three lifts with short slopes as Sicily is of course not a ski destination. We paid 30 euro each for the lifts, 20 euro each for rental of a whole set and 3 euro for parking. There is also a nice lunch restaurant by the slopes which you can reach skiing and then just take the ski lift up again. I recommend to go in the middle of the week as weekends are very crowded. — More photos after Swedish text —

Skid?kning p? Etna ?r n?got utanf?r denna v?rld!

Travelling to Sicily? Do not miss this!

There are several ways to see Etna, but this is the coolest way. By helicopter across Mount Etna’s crater, northern observation station and the freshest lava streams. Here by take off at the heliport. For special excursions I always book by? Sicily Private Spot!

Views in Castiglione di Sicilia

My work takes me all over Sicily and we were visiting one of my favourite towns, Castiglione di Sicilia. Castiglione is also the oldest wine town in Sicily and located by the wine and nut district. Here we were checking the allotment and how to organize the bus to come through for art groups coming to Sicily. Sadly for a cloudy day you can not see tha usual amazing view to Etna.

Hiking in Monte Turcisi

Monte Turcisi is just 25 minutes from Catania towards Palermo. It is an old fort where Ermites lived and it was also used for controlling land by greeks as you can see towards Catania, Enna, Syracuse and Agrigento. This fort is dated 500 B.C. and got abandoned around year 1800. It is a very nice hiking destination that offers a magnificent view. Leave the car by the road and walk all the way up.

Alcantara River

I don’t even know where I’ve been…but the coffee was good!

Hamnade mitt i ingenstans. Minns inte vad byn hette, men s?g att det fanns m?nga v?gar ut. Otroligt vackert var det iallafall. Undrar vad byn heter? Fotade lite runt omkring. Kanske jag passerar en dag igen.

Eng: Ended up in the middle of nowhere. I don’t remember what the village was called, but saw that there were many ways out. It was a beautiful little mini village. Wondering what the village is called? Took some photoes. Maybe I pass one day again.
