If you are traveling to Sicily please read this.
- I get many mails and requests of tips about Sicily; what to see, hotels to recommend, restaurants where to eat, what to eat, what to buy ecc. I rarely answer because it would be a full time job and I already have couples of activities to run every day. I recommend to go to the right side of this blog and click on Categories. There you find a collection of ten years of information about Sicily; places, towns, cities, beaches and much more. You also have a Search tool on the top where you can write key words and posts will come up.
- Abandoned cats and dogs. If you come here for a week or two and start to take care of street dogs and cats, do not expect to find a solution for the situation when you leave. In Sicily many animals lives on the streets, BUT many Sicilians are treating them well and leaves food. In many municipalities they have e.g. Cat Places where the municipality informs that they get fed daily. Here I have learned to always have foods e.g. in my car even if I do not have domestic animals and I leave foods outdoors every evening. Best way to help an animal, if you like, is to take it to the next veterinarian, fix a pass port and take the creature with you when you leave. The cat and dog was here before you came, and if it’s still alive it means they have foods somewhere in the area. Don’t expect to find a shelter or contact someone else to take over the “problem”. It is not always a problem, it is just a different system.

Sicilien finns m?nga djur p? gatorna, men m?nga sicilianare behandlar dem v?l och l?mnar mat. I m?nga kommuner har de t.ex. Kattplatser d?r kommunen informerar om att de f?r mat dagligen. H?r har jag l?rt mig att alltid ha mat, t.ex. i min bil ?ven om jag inte har husdjur och jag l?mnar mat utomhus varje kv?ll. B?sta s?ttet att hj?lpa ett djur om du vill ?r att ta det till veterin?r, fixa ett pass och ta varelsen med dig hem n?r du l?mnar. Katten och hunden var h?r innan du kom, och om den fortfarande lever betyder det att de har mat n?gonstans i omr?det. F?rv?nta dig inte att hitta ett hem eller kontakta n?gon annan f?r att ta ?ver “problemet”. Det ?r inte alltid ett problem, det ?r bara ett annat system.
