Small village of 3000 inhabitants known for its Murales paintings. Since 1994 about 30 artists contributed with their art on this villages facades. In August takes place a folkloristic dance “Ballo della Cardella”. A fertility dance around a three meter high pole, which is identical to our viking tradition in Midsummer.

Here visiting Piazza Armerina with 20,000 inhabitants and famous for the Roman mosaic villa, Villa Romana del Casale. Largest, richest and most varied mosaic collection in the world covering 3500 m2. Also visiting the old town sadly many skip to visit. Very up and down hills, but with very interesting history specially for us Normans as Piazza Armerina was developed by Normans.
Selinunte archaeological park is largest in Europe. 270 hectares, 10 km walking track, seven temples, baths, necropolis ecc. An area to walk through the birth of the Greek empire to its fall.
Marinella di Selinunte is the small village just by with 1000 inhabitants. One of the few real rural Sicilian areas left with slow living, fish and amazing beaches.
If in Palermo do not miss the Palermos botanical Garden. Founded 1789, 10 hectares large, and one of the most important Italian academic institutions with over 5000 plants for studies. Plants were organized along the Linneian system of classification, a system created by Swedish Carl Linnaeus aka Carl von Linné.
It also holds a so called urban vineyard from 2018 where most important Italian wine grapes are preserved.
Visited in January a beautiful marina town in the very south of Sicily. Hill side town with stunning sea view and famous for the thermal baths. The old part is like walking in an open museum.

Besökte i Januari en vacker småbåtshamnstad i södra Sicilien. Stad på en kulle med fantastisk havsutsikt och känd för termalbaden. Den gamla delen är som att gå i ett öppet museum.
It is not a secret this area of Sicily is one of my favorite’s, the very south of the south. Here visiting Portopalo di Capo Passero just by Marzamemi. A old fisherman village with 4000 inhabitants. Very rural Sicily where two sea’s meet by Isola di Capo Passero; the Mediterranean sea and Ionian sea.

Det är ingen hemlighet att det här området på Sicilien är en av mina favoriter, allra söder om söder. Här besöker jag Portopalo di Capo Passero precis vid Marzamemi. En gammal fiskarby med 4000 invånare. Mycket lantligt Sicilien där två hav möts vid Isola di Capo Passero; Medelhavet och Joniska havet.
Visiting one my favorite areas in Sicily, Marzamemi. A seaside pearl where tourism has increased last years. Was a untouched place just only ten years ago. One of Sicily’s oldest wine areas and is still a fisherman’s village. I like to come here off season, avoiding July to first weeks of September.

Besöker ett av mina favoritområden på Sicilien, Marzamemi. En pärla vid havet där turismen har ökat de senaste åren. Var en orörd plats för bara tio år sedan. Ett av Siciliens äldsta vinområden och är fortfarande en fiskeby. Jag gillar att komma hit under lågsäsong och undviker juli till första veckorna i september.
Yes, I know there are many many videos about Taormina. But one can not have a Sicily vlog and not insert Taormina. So a fast walk from Porta Messina to Porta Catania with some details. Special thanks to La Baronessa who let me enter their terrace even if closed (we did couple of weddings here).

Ja, jag vet att det finns många många videon om Taormina. Men man kan inte ha en Sicilien-vlogg och inte ha med Taormina. Så en snabb promenad från Porta Messina till Porta Catania med lite detaljer. Särskilt tack till La Baronessa som lät mig komma in på deras terrass även om den var stängd (vi gjorde ett par bröllop här).
