While preparing for a business trip to Berlin, to attend the world’s largest fresh produce exhibition this week, I ordered new business cards. Very simple just with the most important information. The company in Catania said again that I should put my titles on the card as it is very important in Italy. And not only in Italy, also in France, Germany, parts of US and so on. I did that the first year in Italy but quickly noticed that people respect titles for wrong reasons, a title does not mean that the person automatically possess competence and here you can also buy your degree without attending any university. I also noticed that people started to act strange when you put Dottoressa o Direttrice on the card. Italy is a country where if you meet ten lawyers with a question, you receive twenty answers. Here also students who has not yet gratuated print business cards in advance with a title on. That how title fixed Italy is. During my years here few can measure with the competence from lawyers, accountants, notaries I can find in Scandinavia. Then in Scandinavia we do not use titles which I like very much. So I keep on working with my name and without the titles, I find it more positive that way. And I can live up to the description on my card.

Mycket enkelt bara med den viktigaste informationen. F?retaget i Catania sa igen att jag skulle s?tta mina titlar p? kortet, eftersom det ?r mycket viktigt i Italien. Och inte bara i Italien, ?ven i Frankrike, Tyskland, delar av USA och s? vidare. Jag gjorde det f?rsta ?ret i Italien men m?rkte snabbt att folk respekterar titlar f?r fel anledningar, en titel betyder inte att personen automatiskt besitter kompetens och h?r kan du ocks? k?pa din examen utan att beh?va n?rvara vid n?got universitet. Jag m?rkte ocks? att m?nniskorna b?rjade att agera konstigt n?r du s?tter Dottoressa o Direttrice p? kortet. Italien ?r ett land d?r om du tr?ffar tio jurister med en fr?ga, f?r du tjugo svar. Det ?r mycket vanligt att studenter som ?n inte tagit examen g?r visitkort med deras kommande titel p?. S? fixerad ?r Italien med titlar. Under mina ?r h?r kan f? m?ta sig med kompetens fr?n advokater, revisorer, notarier jag kan hitta i Skandinavien. Sedan anv?nder vi inte i Skandinavien titlar, n?got jag gillar v?ldigt mycket. S? jag h?ller fast vid att arbeta med mitt namn och utan titlar, jag tycker att det ?r mer positivt p? det s?ttet. Och jag kan leva upp till beskrivningen p? mitt kort.

Titles in Italy are very important. Everyone who has a university degree or a higher status makes sure people uses Direttore, Dottore, Professoressa and so on. It was very difficult for me to learn all these titles and I still do not know because each position has its own title. So I say Dottoressa or Professore to be sure. Then I also explain that I am not used to titles because in scandinavia we do not use them.
In central europan countries they also use titles, but not so often like Italy.
It is also quite funny that when a person has almost finished their studies they use the title everywhere, also on business cards even if they do not have a job.
I have also decided not to use a title when I work. Everybody knows I have university studies, am an entrepreneur, and still will study. The reason why I do not want to use the title is that people starts to act different and they get a false respect for me. It is nicer to meet people as they are and have a relaxed sitiuation.

Titlar i Italien ?r mycket viktigt. Alla som har en h?gskoleexamen eller en h?gre status ser till att folk anv?nder Direttore, Dottore, Professoressa och s? vidare. Det var mycket sv?rt f?r mig att l?ra mig alla dessa titlar och jag vet fortfarande inte eftersom varje position har sin egen titel. S? jag s?ger Dottoressa eller Professore att vara s?ker. D? f?rklarar jag ocks? att jag inte ?r van vid titlar eftersom i Skandinavien anv?nder vi inte dem.
I centraleuropeiska l?nder anv?nds ocks? titlar, men inte s? ofta som Italien.
Det ?r ocks? ganska roligt att n?r en person n?stan har avslutat sina studier, s? anv?nder de titeln ?verallt, ?ven p? visitkort och ?ven om de inte har ett jobb.
Jag har ocks? beslutat att inte anv?nda min titel n?r jag jobbar. Alla vet att jag har h?gskoleutbildning samt entrepren?r, och fortfarande kommer att studera. Anledningen till att jag inte vill anv?nda titeln ?r att folk b?rjar agera annorlunda och de f?r en falsk respekt f?r mig. Det ?r trevligare att tr?ffa m?nniskor som de ?r, och ha en avslappnad situation.
