Saint Agata festivities in Catania

Saint Agata is the most important celebration for Catanesi, the celebrate their city’s saint. Every year also a public function gets honored with Candelora D’oro for their important work, and this year is was the fire fighters. We were invited by the mayor to see the honor price to be received by the fire fighters the 2nd of February. That night they also leave flowers to the saint at main church. The 3rd of February we were invited again to the municipality to see fireworks and for some drinks and finger foods. After that we left for another invitation to Agata Terrazze where we could see the fireworks for Saint Agata better.

Helgonet Agata ?r det viktigaste firandet f?r Catanesi, de firar deras stadshelgon. Varje ?r hedras ocks? en offentlig funktion med Candelora D’oro f?r deras viktiga arbete, och i ?r var det brandm?nnen. Vi blev inbjudna av borgm?staren att se hederspriset tas emot av brandm?nnen den 2 februari. Den natten l?mnar de ocks? blommor till helgonet vid huvudkyrkan. Den 3 februari blev vi inbjudna igen till kommunen f?r att se fyrverkerier och f?r lite drinkar och sm?plock. Efter det ?kte vi till en annan inbjudan till Agata Terrazze d?r vi kunde se fyrverkerierna f?r Helgonet Agata b?ttre.

Then the festivities ended from my part, had to leave for work in Germany.

Och d?r tog firandet f?r mig slut d? jag reste till Tyskland f?r arbete.

 

City of Catania – the opening of Sant’Agata festivities

With my friend I was invited by the municipality of Catania for the first celebration evening of the cities saint Sant’Agata. Had the honor to follow the festivities from the municipal building at Piazza Duomo. From the balcony we could get glimpes of the festivities in the main piazza. The celebration in Piazza Duomo starts every year at 20:00 the first evening, first 20 minutes there are speaches and the other 20 minutes the orchestra plays classical music and fire works are set of in the same rythm. It looks amazing! And when “Vincero” was played you could not hold back the emotions. If you ever are in Catania when the Saints festivities starts, be sure to be at the piazza in good time to experience one of the most amazing festivities in the world.

Av min v?n blev jag inbjuden av kommunen Catania f?r f?rsta festkv?llen f?r stadshelgonet Sant’Agata. Hade ?ran att f?lja festligheterna fr?n kommunhuset p? Piazza Duomo. Fr?n balkongen kunde vi f? inblick i festligheterna p? stora torget. Firandet i Piazza Duomo b?rjar varje ?r kl 20:00 den f?rsta kv?llen, f?rsta 20 minuterna tal och de ?vriga 20 minuterna spelar orkestern klassisk musik och ny?rsraketer sm?lls i samma rytm. Det ser fantastiskt ut! Och n?r “Vincero” spelades kunde inte k?nslorna h?llas tillbaka. To renew a driving licence in Italy

Go directly yourself to Motorizazzione. Do not go to driving schools, send a friend or local family member.
My driving licence expired last year because of residential issues and had to renew it too late. Because of so much things to solve after the residential hassle was done, I asked a friend who owns a driving school to fix the paper work to renew the licence and all that needs to get paid and he asked for 85 euro and it was ok.
After three months of his “fixing time” he could not solve it. He said that my government in Sweden has to send a letter that says I have a driving licence with a stamp etc (we do not even use stamps in Sweden!!). No, as EU citizen you don’t have too. Outside EU you need a translated document from your government.
Go directly to the office to save time and alot of bullshit.
You have to get two documents from Motorizzazione and two bills to pay: 9? and 29,24?
Then you have to buy a bolla 14,62? from a Tabaccaio for the medical visit. A valid medical center they inform you of at Motorizazzione.
Then you need 4 photos of yourself, copy of your Codice Fiscale, Passport and present driving licence.
Go in with all papers and it’s done.
For appr. 50 euro you fix it yourself.
You have to renew a expired driving licence within a year, but if you are lucky they help you anyway…and most office people I have met are friendly.

Procedure may be changed by time.

Mitt k?rkort gick ut f?rra ?ret p? grund av folkbokf?ringsproblem och var tvungen att f?rnya det f?r sent. Du beh?ver 4 foton av dig sj?lv, kopia av din Codice Fiscale, pass och nuvarande k?rkort.
G? in med alla papper och det ?r gjort.
F?r cirka 50 euro fixar du allt sj?lv.

Du m?ste f?rnya ett utg?nget k?rkort inom ett ?r, men om du har tur de hj?lper dig ?nd?…och de flesta kontorsm?nniskor jag har tr?ffat ?r v?nliga.

Proceduren kan ?ndras med tiden.
